What is something you enjoy about the St. John’s/Scotia Heights/Luxton/North End/Point Douglas neighbourhood?
Judy and I moved into our house across from the future site of Bannerman Green in 1982 when we first moved to Winnipeg and it has been home ever since. The neighbourhood is beautiful, close to both North End parks and within easy access to downtown. But it is the people of this area that really make it a wonderful place to live.
Why are you a member of Bannerman Green?
It is time to start planning for the day that walking up and down stairs will become more than just a challenge. When we heard about the possibility that we could stay in the neighbourhood we love and be part of a co-op whose vision is aligned with our own, we jumped at the chance to become involved.
If you plan/want to live at Bannerman Green, what are you most looking forward to?
Becoming part of a community of folks who are committed to the principles of the co-op and to not having to use stairs to get to the bathroom!
What is your favourite band or musician?
Matt Andersen – Canadian blues guitarist and singer-songwriter, who I first saw at the Winnipeg Folk Festival
Have you started any new hobbies during COVID19?
I retired just before the COVID19 lockdown, and when Dudley and Eleanor started exploring the possibility of establishing a North End housing co-op I decided to brush up on my website developer skills and that now fills any available time I want to devote to it.
What is your favourite season?
Any season that is not winter.
What is a TV show that you loved to watch as a kid or teenager?
Hockey Night in Canada
Would you rather wear only one colour each day, or have to wear 7 colours each day?
Yes
Would you rather host a large gathering, or attend a large gathering at someone else’s house?
Hosting – looking forward to the time when we can again host a backyard house concert (in support of the Co-op!)
Is there anything else you want to share about yourself/selves to the other members of Bannerman Green? Work? Family? Pets?
I spent my working years in the Information Technology arena. I enjoy singing in the St Johns Cathedral choir and spending time with Judy (biking/hiking/watching her pick blueberries) and with our sons Nick and Joe.
